90% of Japan's tombstones come from China!
May 25,2024
The news of the shortage of Japanese tombstones this time has also brought another focus - the export of Chinese tombstones. It is understood that the proportion of tombstone stones exported from Fujian to Japan has always exceeded 90% of the local market share, and Japanese customers have to renovate tombstones every few years, resulting in a large export volume. However, in recent years, due to the economic downturn in Japan and a decrease in order volume, many domestic manufacturers have changed their business strategies and shifted from exports to domestic sales, resulting in a decrease in the number of Chinese manufacturers supplying the Japanese market.
Does the shortage of Japanese tombstones mean an increase in demand in the Japanese tombstone market? Regarding this, Wang Zhigang, the president of the Stone Carving and Stone Association in Hui'an County, Fujian Province, believes that the main reason for the shortage of tombstones is the delay in the production, delivery, and delivery processes caused by the epidemic. At the same time, he also stated that there has not been a significant increase in the order volume of local tombstone processing enterprises in Huian in the short term. It is understood that many tombstone production enterprises in Huian have resumed production and work, and the situation of "tombstone supply shortage" in Japanese stone shops should be alleviated soon.
Besides Japan, which other countries cannot do without Chinese stone?
The series of impacts caused by the epidemic further illustrates the influence of China's stone industry. Besides Japan, many countries cannot do without China's stone manufacturing. According to the "2018 China Stone Import and Export Big Data Release and Analysis" at the 19th Xiamen Stone Exhibition, the top three major countries for China's stone exports are still South Korea, the United States, and Japan; The first one is South Korea, with 1.233 billion US dollars; The second is the United States, reaching 696 million US dollars; The third place is Japan, with 433 million US dollars. These three countries still account for about 40% of China's natural stone exports. And markets such as Vietnam, India, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates, as the second tier, also account for a large proportion of China's stone exports.
